This is the sculpting work on my latest doll, I thought some of you may enjoy seeing some work in progress pics
(please click the image for a full view)
For the hands i first built a wire armature, then built up a rough (but accurate enough for a sculpting base) skeleton out of white premo polymer clay.
In the second pic,.. Once the skeleton was sculpted i baked it, once baked i then had a posable wired hand armature with accurate bone/ finger lenghts.
In the third pic,...I then clipped and rolled the ends of the wire and posed the hands in a realistic neutral position and began to lay up muscle and tendon masses,... the hands are still in proress but i should have finished pics in a few weeks
thanks for showing your work, I have been wanting to make doll that way I can get a better understanding of the human body, looks like a lot of work but this gives me a better understanding of where to start,
Thank you for this! I need to be reminded that skill takes time and effort to achieve. You obviously have paid your dues to be this good! Thanks again! :0)
maybe i'll try this from-bone-up technique.... you rawk, man.
This is really really cool, I could never bring myself to cover up something I already made... I'd have a heart attack.
